ELT Consultancy

I've worked on several projects in a consultancy/advsory role and written pre-publication reports for a number of ELT courses.

My latest consultancy project is as Materials Advisor for an EU-funded Tempus Project in Russia. This project (FLERTUV*) is administered by the University of Surrey and involves working & liasing with Russian-based teaching staff and regular working/teacher training visits to three universities in the River Volga region of Russia - Volgograd, Saratov & Samara.

The Partners in the Tempus project are:

• University of Surrey: Educational Liaison Centre

• University of Oldenburg Carl Von Ossietzky

• SaratovState Technical University (SSTU)

• SamaraState Technical University (SamSTU)

• Volgograd State Technical University (VSTU)

The project aims to establish self-access centres, create & publish online learning resources and co-ordinate the English-language teaching departments across the three universities.

*FLERTUV = Foreign Language Education in the Technical Universities of the Volga.

The project will deliver:
1. Three fully equipped and staff supported centres in three major universities on the Volga -SSTU, SamSTU and VSTU which will provide a network of learning in the region and link to other institutes.
2. A cadre of staff in all centres capable of creating new materials and cascading the products of the project to a wider audience, including business staff within technical industries.
3. An accredited suite of units of e-learning in FLSP developed for supported self study within the centres. These will be validated to EU standards through an analysis of learning outcomes matched to assessment criteria.
4. Trained graduates from technical faculties and business employees with good skills in FLSP.
5. A dissemination of good practice strategy, including an international conference, to provide training, learning units and publications which will enable other centres to develop by using the transferable model.
6. A business plan for each centre to ensure sustainability and as an exit strategy from the project.
